Are people as judgemental about car owners in real life?

I feel like this is just an internet thing, where anyone can state any opinion under the sun, guarded by the wall of anonymity that is the computer.

But out on the road...tearing down your favorite backroads or just cruising around town...enjoying your “blasphemous” car. Does anyone say anything? Nope!

If they do, like face-to-face at a car show or whatever...walk away...leave em’ in a cloud of tire smoke!

Most drivers would just acknowledge your existence on the road then move on with their day anyhow.

I think it depends on the owner and the car. If you’re a humble dude with a clean classic car you’ll be treated differently than a teenager in a riced out econobox

in the real world people aren’t claiming a like for a certain car, them merely owning/driving one doesn’t mean they like it. therefore everyone gets a pass.

Yes, but in real life things are usually not blatantly expressed, recorded and saved forever and ever so that a person can read it 30 times and take offense 30 times.

In real life, you might frown at a car that you dislike. And then you move on.

On Instagram, you might leave a nasty comment, and start a flame war. Half a day later, the viewership explodes and you might receive nasty threats.

I’ll judge people for what they drive but won’t say anything.

Yes. Sit in the passing lane and I’ll just go around you to the right. Sit in the passing lane in a Prius/bro truck/car with autozone vents/etc. and I’ll pass you on the right swiftly, loudly and a bit asshole like.

Because fuck you, that’s why.

I think this can be distilled down to;  people can be jerks when there are no repercussions

I know plenty of people that will talk shit to anyone and everyone. They instigate a lot of fights.

It’s only on the internet where I hear people say I must have a tiny shlong, because I drive a full size truck.

Just like nobody talks shit about teachers being over paid and lazy to my face ... actually my neighbor did that once before realizing who she was talking to.

It’s an internet thing. When I’m driving, I’m mostly just trying to get where I’m going with a minimum of fuss and time spent. Sometimes I’ll spare a moment for “Oh nice (insert make/model)” or “Turn down the bass, dumbass.” but mostly the other cars are just NPCs in my (very boring) personal game of GTA, just things between me and my destination that I need to not crash into.

I owned a PT Cruiser for many years. Not one person gave me a hard time about it in person. Just about every post about it someone gave me crap about it
